#5209 RE: WTMHouston #5208

Hi,
Yes! It is still paying that. We received our dividend on August 16th. That was the day it was due. It arrived on time as it always has. I fully expect to get the next dividend on November 15th or 18th since the 16th is on a Saturday.
When I purchased CEI over two and a half years ago everyone was saying to stay away from REITs because they hadn't done well for such a long time. Now when I talk about REITs people are saying that they aren't good investments because rates are going up. That may be true, eventually, but right now it looks more and more like there may be at least one cut before they start going up. I am thinking that some people may be upset because they missed the boat on REITs. Personally I'm kind of glad I sold some tech stocks to get some of the $$$ to buy the REITs back then.
Using AIM plus the nice dividends since my purchases, my cash reserve is probably going to be sufficient for any downturn that might occur when rates do indeed go up. You might try looking at a chart of CEI on MSN which shows dividends. Over the last 5 years the dividend has declined by less than a penny a share. They haven't missed a dividend since 1994 when they first went public.
Over the last eight years the dividend has increased from 14.5 cents to 37.5 cents an increase of slightly over 250%. Here's a present quote from MSN's stock scouter, one of the methods that I use for stock searching. CEI has a rating of 9 out of 10 with 10 being the top rating.

Two or more executives, directors or major shareholders – including one high-level executive -- purchased a large number of shares recently. Positive

• Shares are under heavy accumulation by financial institutions. Positive for large companies like CEI

• The price-to-sales multiple is slightly higher than the average for all stocks in the StockScouter universe. Positive/Neutral for a medium- to large-sized company like CEI

Hope this answers your question.

Hi,
I forgot to mention in my last post that CEI has made two major acquisitions recently in Miami FL and Houston TX. These just may explain why Rainwater and Stallings made their purchases.
Here's another one.
Name: MODY JANE E
Title: Officer
Remaining Shares: 10,000
Trade Date Transaction Quantity Price Value
05/17/02 Purchase 5,000 $18.70 $93,500

The two acquisitions mentioned above occurred in June. Stallings purchase occurred in June afterwards. Rainwater's transaction occurred in August.
