Years ago I did my own research and found brokerages were not 100% covered. It was not necessary that they be. Then Urbie started printing tons more shares and the stock was halted and it would have been virtually impossible to get completely covered. Again though, brokers weren't required to.
However, brokers also wrote off tons of shares as worthless and had clients sign worthless stock letters.
And yes, Kevin most certainly said today that he thinks there was a naked short.
