Seems like there alot on this board who use to remember favorite teams for other reasons than the BS they have evolved into. I use to attend Drake University Football games as part of my college education, But watching glorified high schooolers play forced us to begin drinking slow gin and seven-up. Finally somoen asked us to drive down interstate 80 and see a real college football game.

I never sat in a stadium that held so many spectators, and thou I only went to a few games, watching the University of Nebraska in the early 1970s with Tom Osborne as there head coach was a treat, and an unforgetable memory.

A college rivalry back then really meant something, now adays its just something that is created. To this day I am, and always will be a Nebraska fan.

It's not just money; it's who gets it. Major League Baseball got an anti-trust exemption from Congress and the players remained "slaves" once signed. They couldn't sell their services to another team. The owners got and kept most of the money. Then came Marvin Miller and the players association and the players started to share the money. And big money it became,

The colleges are making big money from football. How long before someone unionizes the players?
