JKJ .. FWIW, a lot of people out there know a lot that we don't!
I have felt that way for some time (at least a year or more). It falls under the category of "Be careful what you wish for." For years we all lamented that IDCC was not on WS's "radar screen."
That changed a couple of years ago as the sell side analysts started to come on board. Initially, their analysis was roundly criticized on this board as being "clueless." The next judgment was "gutless" when they didn't seem to be willing to jump on the IDCC bandwagon until NOK/SAM are resolved. Of course, Marsala was relegated to "traitor" for his overly conservative opinions.
Fast forward to now. Maybe the sell-side analysts are still well behind this board in their analysis of IDCC's potential and maybe (heresy I know) we are no longer focusing on the issues that will be the determining factors of future stock price movement and they are. FWIW, I see an awful lot of time spent on issues (insignificant insider selling, for one) that I know to have no long term effect on the stock price.
I do know that these analysts have a much broader perspective on how others in the industry view IDCC as well as on all of the factors that may come into play in IDCC's future and are clearly are more in touch with the stock market overall. They also have resources to conduct in-depth research that dwarf ours. So it is highly likely that they do know a lot that we don't. Does that automatically translate into having a better fix on IDCC's chances for success? Definitely not. But the sobering fact for us is that they have orders of magnitude more influence over the money invested in IDCC currently and in the future than any poster, or group of posters, on this board or any other board.
