#2159 RE: sumisu #2157

After reading this message, I am reminded of what Michael Pollan wrote about the state of Iowa, famous for its corn production, having become a net importer of food in order to adequately feed itself.

Come to think of it, people who eat out regularly, perhaps several times a week, breakfast, lunch, dinner, rely upon what could be considered "imported food."

How many independently operated sit down restaurants include in their advertisements how much local food they serve?

The supermarkets now promote local grown. Trouble is, a supermarket's definition of "local grown" could mean it imports food 1000 miles to POP, marketing term which means "point of purchase."

The supermarkets also stock "organically grown" food. As far as I am concerned, a supermarket's definition of "organically grown" is just so much BS, especially when it comes to Wal-Mart.
