It would be under pressure until they were prepped and ready to R&R the tube. With a man at each end, turn off the pump, and the system would only be open to the elements for a moment while they slipped on the new tube and secured the clamps. The only contaminant to be worried about would be a more aggressive strain of algae and I would think the odds are pretty long against that happening.
