#62007 RE: RootOfTrust #61996

[edited] OT? Ramsey, Wave is probably very focused on the MSFT world since it is hands-down the majority out there. This talk about iPod being the "trojan horse" is unfounded. Just because some kids think its cool does not mean it could destroy a MSFT empire with every major bank, insurance, foodstuff, manufacturing, automotive, services, etc etc etc company on the planet using IBM compatible PCs with MSFT o/s!!! A music player will not destroy MSFT! LMAO In fact, the talk usually surrounds itself with commentary of how Apple is leading the charge, or something like that. Puh-leeeeze. The way I see it (which of course is wrong) is that Apple is so far behind, they have yet to figure out what they need to do to make an o/s support the new hardware that is being released. Over the next 5 years, 100s of millions of devices - maybe even a billion with mobile, will be released and apple hasn't even talked about it yet. Apple's wonderful iPod will also have to adopt the trusted computing architecture to interface with the IBM PCs that people own. So....in effect, Apple will be following MSFT and the TCG.

Apple basically has to get their head outta their arse if they think an on-line music store is their savior. 95% of businesses have never seen an apple computer unless they are a publishing house. When content gets secured, and you need an IBM compatible PC with TC to secure it, those apple houses will be forced to switch, or the clients will send their work to a graphix house that can take the files. Even today, if you go to a reputable graphix house, they have both apple and IBMPC. Eventually, they will have one, and if the Apple stuff doesn't support security, the exact opposite is going to happen and MSFT "gets this". Apple doesn't. Its the end of the road for Apple and they better wake up. Too late will be too late! The PC will run Apple and MSFT and eventually they won't need the Apple stuff!

Of course, this isn't an apple board, it is a Wave board, so I prefer to stick to Wave, who will be spending their time and effort on the biggest group in the industry, and that is the MSFT group. Apple represents 1/100th of what MSFT represents, maybe even less! if Wave were to do anything with Apple and Apple deployed it, it would be used by hardly anyone if 1% of Apple users used it. If 1% of MSFT users pick it up, it would be used by equal to 100% of the Apple crowd. Do the math!

Wave should forget apple. Apple is a waste of their time! They will either FOLLOW or die on the vine. Wave doesn't have the resources to go down every path they wish. Stick to MSFT. People may complain, but the FACT remains that MSFT *is* the computer industry. Apple is a flea on MSFT's a$$.

[edited] let me add that if Apple does call Wave for information or whatever, Wave should take the call and be diplomatic, but not do any engineering work unless Apple pays up-front. (which is the way Wave should be operating at this point for anyone that wants engineering work - payment up front).
