#61937 RE: kantbleveit #61935

kant, regardin my assignment for unixguy ... if Wave made computer printers and I asked you why I should buy stock in Wave when another company has been around for years making white dye to bleach paper used in printers, wouldn't you tell me to learn what I'm asking about before asking it? That is the same as what unixguy asked. His question made no sense. Something completely off the mark. Black and white. Totally separate. I think we are here to discuss Wave. People like unixguy should *at least* read the board's header, look at the links, and spend a few hours learning what Wave does and what trusted computing is before asking questions that have no relevance. Granted, Trusted computing is difficult to understand, but wasting people's time and cluttering up the board with useless posts is something else. His question clearly demonstrates that he never even visited wavexpress or tvtonic. Didn't even know what tvtonic was.

The first link in the header is wave.com

If he clicked that and went to "company information" he would have gotten a big write up. The last *half* of the write up talks about wavexpress. Sorry but laziness should not be tolerated. They can at least read a bit.

Wavexpress

Wavexpress enables secure broadband distribution of premium digital content. The company delivers full-screen, DVD-quality video, games, radio, music and software. Wavexpress supports a variety of business models, including subscription, pay-per-view, and advertising services. Wavexpress gives content owners the ability to reach a widespread audience without requiring the addition of expensive hardware. One customer uses Wavexpress to offer foreign news, short films, music videos, sports, special events, and top radio programming, all from a secure cache on each customer’s personal computer. Activation automatically installs Wavexpress WX Client™, which handles the storage, management and playback of the programming.

Wavexpress delivers cached content through TVTonic.com, a broadband content delivery service that delivers full-screen, DVD-quality video content and a “no-wait” user experience to consumer and enterprise PCs. TVTonic supports a range of security models from software enabled to high security hardware-based protection which enables content providers to determine the strength of security required for their offerings. Wavexpress has continued to expand the range of content on the TVTonic.com service, including news from The Associated Press; motion picture previews and interviews via Hollywood.com and French cultural and entertainment programming produced in conjunction with Paris Premiére.

Extending the revenue potential from Wavexpress’s proprietary technologies, in May 2003 Wavexpress packaged its unique technology into a product form and launched TVTonic Direct, aimed at film, television and entertainment companies seeking to improve the quality and presentation of their online video content. Wavexpress is also targeting enterprise applications such as distance learning and corporate communications and has announced customers in both segments.

kantbleveit: Let me jump in...

You write:

"...I didn't know that WAVX investors were required to become "COMPLIANT" with all things WAVE. Is this board only for the ELITE brain trust? What happens if we don't complete your assignments? Are we banned? I come here for KLIFF NOTES VERSIONS of what's transpiring; We all have our reasons for investing~ participating or lurking on the boards~ etc..."

Trusted Computing is a difficult to understand subject. It is difficult to understand not only for us converging on this board but apparently also for many if not most IT professionals, and yes, for many future adopters.

Trusted Computing is a groundbreaking new technology and "system" and because of that it is easy to get lost in a sea of seemingly related and/or unrelated "news".

The main reason for this "difficulty to understand" is, in my opinion, that the available information is very heterogeneously dispersed across many necessary building blocks of the space; A lot of work is needed by many different players to bring this space to bloom.

While there are standards groups (i.e. TCG) we must not forget that, although the member companies pull on the same end of the rope, these members are still in a competitive environment and everybody tries to play their cards in their favor. This is normal.

The press has until now, with very few exceptions, not correctly connected the technology and the space. Yet we tend to take the written word by these "hip-shooter" journalists as facts. This doesn't make it easy.

If you look at all these various PRs by the many players in this space you notice that some were totally wrong, even misleading.

The biggest example is Microsoft: Their original "Palladium" (NGSCB) approach turned out to be plain wrong and not thought out well enough. Microsoft has in the meantime taken all info on NGSCB off the net and is "evolving the technology" as they so aptly say on their web site...

What does this really mean? it means that the technology is still evolving and we must pay attention every day to new developments. And that is why it is so difficult to write "cliff notes" as surfsup (go-kitesurf) so well did in years past on the RB board.

Unclevername has put in an incredible amount of efforts over the years transcribing and archiving quarterly conference calls and other interesting and relevant presentations. This information is there for anybody to view.

Eamonnshute has put in considerable efforts to provide the interested with up-to-date information on the actual adoption of Trusted Computing related products. As a matter of fact his site, the TPM Matrix is so well done that even TCG member companies reference his site.

I have put together a website trying to provide a portal to relevant information pertaining to Wave in particular and to Trusted Computing in general – I do have to admit it is difficult to keep it up-to-date. But it’s better than having no reference. I am planning on doing a major overhaul at the beginning of the new year.

So, other than that, the interested investor has to simply read the board on a daily basis to stay informed…there is no other way around it...

kantbleveit, I don't think your post is fair. There are many posters here that give up a lot of time trying to educate new and old investors. If one was to just read the heading to this board, click on all the links in that heading, they would come away with enough knowledge to not have to ask some questions that have been repeated over and over on this board.

Let's give credit to the wonderful posters that here that give their valuable time and knowledge. If not for them, most of us would not know beans about the technology Wave is involved in and the bright prospects for the future.
