working for intel in the field at the time and experiencing the speed with which the red-x converted the market to 386sx i'd say you're dead wrong.

my customer at the time was one of the laggards and paid dearly for their disbelief. the 286 was selling for about $12.50 in high volume and they said they would never pay more than that for a processor. they found out the hard way...
