The RedX was Carter's idea and it was a pretty lame effort. It was one of the early trademark happy efforts of Intel.

The Intel Inside program came straight from Andy Grove and was given to Carter to implement. The early efforts to promote Intel Inside were very amateurish because Carter had no experience in consumer marketing. Eventually, the sophisticated concepts used by consumer marketing experts found their way to to the Intel Inside program. Carter was smart enough to turn to the outside experts for help
