As you are certainly aware, at least I hope you are, things such as "annual reports" and other such specious rodomontade can be made to say anything the company wants them to say.
Reports made to state regulatory agencies - such as the Texas Railroad Commission in Texas, who have purview over all oil and gas production in Texas - are another matter altogether, however.
