Wouldn't count on any increase of spot price due to the significant tragedy at MonCoal. The mine only produced 1.2MM tons per year which is quite small in comparison to App. coal.
However, I would not doubt that MSHA will increase its inspections which could slow overall coal production. Unfortunately, Gwenco will be in the same boat as all the other producers. Possible worse, just based on what observed as Gwenco's ventilation system (i.e. looked quite old, but couldn't tell if it had been upgraded).
