That statement shows your lack of knowledge of how the markets work. And I mean no offense by saying that. People buy at the bid all the time, including myself. I usually only buy at the ask if I want to get into a stock ASAP, like in a quickly rising stock. I'm not saying anything is wrong with buying at the ask, it's just not what many do in a churning stock.
Of course, if no one is selling at the bid, then you have to hit the ASK to get in!
