Not new by any means. Developing yes. Many technologies are invented years before they become useful, or practical (which is what RTGV is trying to capitalize on).

Chip and Pin cards are newer in North America, but not in Eurpoe. Funny thing is that much of Eurpoe still does not have the infrastrucutre to support the cards.

Electric car technology was built in the 60s, but the government choose the much more lucritive oil market instead.

Heck the helicopter was invented well before air flight was even being thought of (or maybe not if you think about that statement the right way:).

Technologies come and go, and there are millions that we never hear about.

Even up here in remote Canada we've had pay by phone parking meters for years now.

I lived in Japan, and they started using this a few years back. It's great! You can use your phone for the subway, convenience stores, vending machines (which are a way of life in japan) and many other things.


I really hope the west starts incorporating these things, since it was unbelievably useful, and became a part of your life.
