Re: cng cars and Pickens...

North,

I agree that Pickens and the Senate and House Natural Gas Act sponsors focus on trucks... I have not heard anyone expect much from cng/lpg passenger car market in the US without widespread adoption by the OEMs. However, niche markets, such as taxi's and company fleets which can be served by a central gaseous fuel dispenser, are growing nicely, albeit from nearly a "zero' base ...

As you probably know, CLNE has a vested interest in the cng taxi market because of its recent acquisition of BAF (Oct 2009). This interest was detailed somewhat in the Q&A of CLNE's Q4 2009 Earnings (Mar 10, 2010), i.e.:

<Q – Rob Brown with Craig-Hallum>: Good afternoon. I think you mentioned on the BAF business that you had another 1,000 trucks in your pipeline. Could you just give us some color there? Are those contracted trucks or things that you might get?

<A – Andrew Littlefair, President & CEO CLNE>: For the most part that’s contract. They are not all trucks, Rob. Some of those are taxicabs, about a hundred or so, I think 85 of which we already produced. There is about 50 airport shuttles we got that are in that 1,000. There is another large national fleet that I’m counting in that number that I’m not going to give you anymore color on, but that will be in that number. And then there are – easily I’m feeling very comfortable about that 1,000 number I gave; there is easily another 500 or so, that are getting up to that 1,000. And this is where we see pick up trucks for the state of Texas and then New York. I don’t know that we have all the contracts in, but we are negotiating in all those right now. So I feel comfortable that we will get those all done. Hopefully it will be more. I’m trying to be conservative.
