I tried 2 cents above the ask and still didnt get filled

I was watching closely for a bottom, and saw a great buying OPP @ .34 and put an order in, it didnt go, and so the chase insued all the way up until .48 and I had a order in for .50 and it wouldnt fill, so I called TD, they gave me the typical retoric, and then it fills and starts plumitting again...Then I try to get out @ .45 and they dont let me, so I try again, and again, finally hit the emergency EXIT =market order=let me out
and I sit and watch for minutes...seemed like hours, and the M.O. I cant even spell the word its so dasturdly!
It filled for .40
