re: I have a mental stop loss right now of $19. I would aggressively buy back though if I stopped out, as I believe AMD is a long term screaming buy.

OK, let me see if I have this right. You don't use actual stops, you instead use "mental" stops. Your current "mental' stop is $19. Fine, so far. Then you say that if the stock hits $19, you are going to stop loss (ie: sell). Then, you say you "would aggressively buy back though if I stopped out, as I believe AMD is a long term screaming buy."

You pay commission both ways to end up where you started.

Your broker must send you a fruitcake for Christmas.

Stops and Specialists

I believe that you can let local software make the trade for
you if you use QuoteTracker and a broker that supports QuoteTracker. Instead of the stop being at the exchange or
the brokerage, it's on your streamer and it executes the trade
when it reaches your stop.

But I know the feeling. You're stop is at $38.9, the price drops
to $39 before going back up and you breath a sigh of relief.
Then the MM sees your stop and goes back down just to grab yours
and then it goes back up. This happened to me once with Boeing.

Hey, a bunch of brokers is getting investigated by the SEC
for putting retail at the end of the queue in the morning
and giving lousy executions. I don't think that anything will
come of this as I think that it's in your brokerage agreement.

You just have to bear in mind that the crooks will take their
pound of flesh and plan accordingly.

Your not alone, I've got the same problems. Personally, I'm looking for a sell-off at the open followed by more buying interest than selling as the day progresses.

What's really got me worried is that while AMD is probably going to have a good quarter I'm not sure, with this run-up, that all the new holders of AMD will be satisfied with the EPS. As I've said a couple of times recently, EPS is a trailing indicator, both up and down. When AMD's EPS finally takes off it will just be verification that all the prerequisites have been checked off.

In the meantime "Promise less deliver more" is still in place. It could make for some interesting trading situations.
