It is exactly the same model like having Windows XP deployed in an enterprise.

An enterprise buys 1000 XP licenses. When they exchange PCs these new PCs are covered under the same license. When the enterprise adds 100 PCs then they have to buy 100 more XP licenses. Theses licenses are good for life. So is an ERAS license.

When the company wants to upgrade to Windows 7 then the enterprise has to buy new licenses covering Windows 7.

Consequently, when, at a later date, Wave rolls out "ERAS 2015" the enterprise has the choice to buy "ERAS 2015" licenses or stick with the original ERAS which are good for life.

Maintenace is a separate issue.
