Mainly Russia and Georgia have been on the cutting edge of medical research. For example, there is a clinic in Georgia that uses bacterial phages for treating chronic wounds such as osteomyelitis. Bacteriophages are micro viruses that attack and kill bacteria, even the muti-drug resistant ones. Our clinic was one of the first in the U.S. to use phages on wounds. I must also say, that we've met resistance from pharmaceutical companies from using these wonderful treatments.
I wouldn't doubt that Russia uses stem cells from treating paralysis, or other diseases. Some would wonder how? Easy! They don't the red tape from the FDA. We could easily have "stem cell treatments" done, but they usually have to go through several years of approval through the FDA.
