Probably a very heavy response taking out the system...
it took several tries much earlier in the day, but finally worked.
Still it took less time to get money in their hands than most other methods I was hearing about.
Even tonight at the super market the clerks were offering an option to donate $1 or $5 added to the bill.
One local radio station here has a list of "KNOWN" reliable aid agencies soliciting contributions that people can feel safe that virtually ALL the donated money will end up putting supplies needed in hands of those actually on the ground with the people in Haiti.
