When a wound bed becomes granulated and viable (a.k.a. clean wound bed), we apply a bi-layer skin called Apligraft. Apligraft is derived from natal circumcised foreskin in male babies. This foreskin is purified, cleaned of all allergens. It contains 'pre-cursor' cells that when introduced to the wound bed, they are 'instructed' to form the proper tissue for wound healing. Of course, other factors need to be addressed, such as infection control, blood glucose discipline, etc.
