Yes, its all very odd. Yesterday I saw people dumping at bid, then a half second later the bid would go up.

Actually, that's called sellers falling over each other to sell. People keep dropping their sell price praying someone takes their shares. Then someone else wants out so bad they drop their ASK price lower than the lowest offer.
