"Sony Ericsson has selected NeoMedia as its strategic 2D barcode partner."

"The NeoReader will be pre-installed across all Sony Ericsson platforms."

"This partnership with Sony Ericsson will make mobile barcode scanning a simple, out-of-the-box experience for consumers."

"The NeoReader is a universal barcode scanning application that reads all standard 1D and 2D barcode symbologies - QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, UPC and EAN - so users won't need multiple barcode readers."

Now, this IS news.
I only hope that NEOM have negotiated tough on revenues....my fear is that they have said to SonyE .... "hey, try first, if you like then we can talk $$$".

Dont laugh...Ive been in this stock too long. Its possible.

I give NO advice....but what I will be doing is making sure I profit out of this likely pps rise, before the inevitable drop back down .....

sustained pps growth will only come with filed revenues, so people...dont buy your lambourghini just yet. But defintely look at the brochures......

Great news!

Key first few words to see why this news is just an appetizer seen in the first sentence of today's morning PR news:

"the global leader in mobile barcode scanning solutions"

They're deadly serious, imho.

Great news, but how do we reconcile this with Scanbuy's PR?

Sony Ericsson to Pre-Load Scanbuy's Mobile Barcode Application, Making ScanLife Technology Available to Millions of People

New York, NY – October 19, 2009 – Scanbuy, Inc., the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, today announced that its ScanLife mobile barcode application will be pre-loaded on Sony Ericsson camera enabled devices. Phones are already being sold with the embedded technology in Spain, Italy, and Mexico with more countries to follow in the coming months.

The ScanLife mobile application uses the camera phone to read all major 1D and 2D barcode formats including Datamatrix, EZcode, QR, UPC, and EAN. The application scans a code to immediately launch a specific action like displaying a website, loading a video, dialing a phone number and more. This makes all physical objects interactive and removes the need for a user to type long URL's or search for information using keywords.

"Scanbuy and our partners are building a global infrastructure to make mobile barcode scanning completely ubiquitous and easy for the end-user," said Jonathan Bulkeley, Chief Executive Officer of Scanbuy. "This partnership is already generating tangible results as people are using new Sony Ericsson phones today with our application."

Telcel, the leading wireless provider in Mexico, is already pre-loading a number of phones with ScanLife. Coca-Cola, Nike, and Frito-Lay have used EZcodes on their marketing material including print advertisements and packaging.

The ScanLife solution is geographically interoperable using ScanLife's Code Management Platform which generates codes and collects analytic data. The mobile application is supported by millions of mobile phones around the world and it is compatible with all major operating systems, including Android™, BlackBerry™, BREW™, iPhone™ OS, Java™, Symbian™ and Windows™. It can be downloaded for free from the phone's browser at www.getscanlife.com.

About Scanbuy

Scanbuy is the leading global provider of mobile barcode solutions that use the camera phone as the link between the physical world and the digital world. The ScanLife solution consists of a multi-barcode reader application and interoperable Code Management Platform. The technology has been successfully deployed and supported by leading mobile providers and handset manufacturers in the United States, Mexico, Chile, Spain, Italy and Denmark. Media companies and marketers use the solution to create and manage measurable 2D barcode campaigns, extending brand engagement onto mobile devices.

Scanbuy has the largest and oldest patent portfolio of any company in the industry, with over 30 patents granted covering the entire solution. The company's investors include Longworth Venture Partners, Masthead Venture Partners and Hudson Ventures.

success622...respect and gratitude for your amazing diligence, for which most here in the "asylum" benefit. IMO image of team librarian is way too conservative, I lean more towards Penelope with a little of Abbey and Ziva thrown in for good measure.

thanks

MODS, Although the MM manipulation of the pps yesterday was disheartening, this PR post should be added to the yellow sticky area. It is still an excellent development IMO.

Between the Sony Ericsson and the Bems (Telefonica) connection the Neoreader has the potential to be embedded on nearly 1 Billion mobile phones!@#$%^&* Of course it will not take place over night, but in the years to come it could! And if everyone else replaces their mobile phone like many of us do, that is a very real possibility! This is simply huge! Sony Ericsson would not do this (preferring our reader above all the others if they were not very serious about it).

Come on Nokia, please embed!

Check out Ericsson's website and the slide presentation on the main page! They state that 40% of the worlds mobile calls pass through their networks!

Zack IS Respected: I am leaning towards the New Ericsson although I am in the Doghouse but will keep what I have and investigate what comes myway in the next 30-60 days.

I am leaning towards the Iphone but definitely not t-mobile/Verizon/at&t/etal and possibly Sprint.

Then again, Definitely not an HTC Android Powered Device as 1st generation is well, suspect especially with all those rouge engineers runnning around (jmo) , I look at the touch screen Blackberry, and no one can get in Steve Jobs Brain, lol
