william_wallace:"If Nokia thought the panel would rule that S/E is a trigger - they would have settled by now. If the investment community was certain the panel would rule S/E was a trigger, we'd be trading in the $50 to $80 range right now."

IMO if NOK had thought that, they would not have threw the sink at IDCC in the opening round. IMO NOK is play a game they can not win but don't know how to exit. They can't afford to show "fear" of a little old company from K of P. What would the rest of Europe think. They are at the point now IMO to go for broke with a roll of the dice. Doesn't matter, they lose in the end.

The street doesn't think anything right now, they don't have to till 2005. Plenty of time left to milk other cows before IDCC shows up on radar.

william_ wallace: IMO, the question in the investment community is not whether S/E is a trigger, but what rates will be established for prior and future payments. If you consider the investment community to be represented by analysts, in recent reports by six analysts that cover IDCC, five analysts gave some consideration to a Nokia/Samsung settlement. However, there was considerable variation in how the settlement was envisioned.

Panel may rule that Nokia and IDCC have a valid contract, but that no rate can be established at this point. At this point, Nokia (and the majority of the investment community)think that is exactly what the panel will say.

Question..How do you know that Nokia has NOT OFFERED to settle and IDCC is holding out for 100% of that which is due them?..Why would you invest in a IP Company..when you doubt the ability of their Management,BoD,General Counsel,General Patent Counsel and outside Counsel (Fulbright & Jaworski)to read and interpret properly a simple Business Contract?

If Nokia thought the panel would rule that S/E is a trigger - they would have settled by now. If the investment community was certain the panel would rule S/E was a trigger, we'd be trading in the $50 to $80 range right now.
