This might be your best post of the night. IF THIS IS TRUE, then the A/S would be 3.5B ASSUMING the A/S is still 5 billion. And the A/S being 5 billion is what is up in the air....

A buy-back with retirement means the shares are taken out of the O/S and sent to the TA to be taken out of the A/S. These share are no longer available. They have been retired.
