I think Pharma and the money machine oversimplify it.
A normal cell death (apoptosis) sends a signal for cleanup on aisle Here'and'Now saying 'eat me' so the macrophages respond and, subsequently, tell the immunostimulatory responding white cells - leucocyte, dendritic, etc - to chill because those cells are dying/dead. Virons, one of the oldest life forms, and super dividing/living cancer cells hijack PS and send a false apoptotic signal. Viron/cancer cells are living and, in fact, are tripping the life fantastic and evidently intend to stay that way.
By removing/plugging the false apoptotic signals from virus/cancer cellular components then Bavi and its Bavi family are merely attempting to allow our immune systems to do their jobs without interference.
The way that FDA structures trials today insures that those who need the most benefit are the most immuno-compromised. It's a helluva hurdle for any drug.
In that sense Bavi and its family would not be drug/s. It does not treat any virus or cancer, or any bacterial infection itself. It's a mab, a natural protein which the body creates in order to oppose any foreign invader.
All drugs are designed to compromise the cancer/virus enough so that the immune system can do its job. Nothing beats Mother Natural and we laymen constantly lose sight of that. There are anomalies. But the Bavi family is the closest we have to opening the window for Mother Natural to do her thing.
Regarding the "third mechanism at work that has to do with the sheer volume of PS" I seriously doubt that there is any virus/infection more robust than a healthy immune system. Excepting anomalies, we all start that way.
