i can see this in use on plants in labs where they are testing things to prevent plant diseases, but i cant see a farmer out in his corn field checking each corn stock!

My guess is infected crops are like kids with a cold in a pre-school. When one is sick, it spreads and soon 20 are sick.
So taking a few sample plants from each crop, establishing a baseline for those few....would give a good picture. Since scanning one person takes between 10 minutes and one hour....Seems like you could probably test an entire field using a few samples in an hour or two.

I'm not sure of the feasibility of this product being used on a large grain farm. I see it being used in the specialized areas such as seed plots, genetic engineering, colleges, tree plots, flower plots, seed companies, and field testing by the seed companies. But I can't see me dad out in the corn/bean field waving the "Star Trek" scanner over 1,000 AL; although if he did, I would smile at the man who hates computers and doesn't trust technology.

Now I can see him using it in the pig builds to do quick health checks on livestock, because preventive medicine saves big money no matter if it is livestock or human.

So if this puppy truely works the way it is being talked about I see numerous usages in the LS and plant markets and potentially unlimited CF.
