By late next year when their process is fully mature, I expect Intel to be at 4.4GHz with Prescott

I do not. The process is mature. The Prescott design, and its power dissipation, is the problem. 4GHz may well be the last bin.

'By late next year when their process is fully mature, I expect Intel to be at 4.4GHz with Prescott and 3.2-3.4GHz with dual core at power levels somewhere above 100W, but less than 130W. It's silly to think that AMD's dual core will clock faster than Intel's, and it's even sillier to compare clock frequencies anyway. '

If you say so :). 4.4 Ghz is probably what 65nm will get you, 4.0-4.2 GHz is absolute tops with 90nm imo. Sorry your hand waving away of my figures, which btw were generous to Intel, 'say' :), cuts no ice with me. See you next year where we will compare notes as to who was being silly or not ;-).
