LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/20/09 -- Universal Detection Technology (www.udetection.com) (OTCBB: UNDT), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies and counter-terrorism training programs to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats, announced yesterday that it is preparing for inclusion in the H.I.R.E. (Hazardous Incident Response Equipment) contract, a special IDIQ contract vehicle established in New York State post 9/11.

UNDT's addition to H.I.R.E. has been approved by the contract manager for New York State's Office of General Services and is pending final approval from the State's Comptroller.
As an H.I.R.E. product, Universal Detection Technology's 5 agent biodetection kits will be available through current UNDT distributor Strategic Response Initiatives, a New York based defense firm specializing in all phases of emergency preparedness planning for a wide range of defense contracts, public and private sector organizations.
