From what I recall UC was shorting CMKX via pension and covering with certs. He got caught short when CMKX got suspended.

Not shorting. A couple of people had contracts with Jeffries for ex-clearing with future guaranteed delivery of certs.

And someone just recently purchased Computer Clearing Services when NevWest went belly up?

It was something to do with that. Or it could have been Edwards who owned it. Nothing to do with Penson.
