#45037 RE: Techman #45034

Techman [edit]

It will take a year or more of AMD superiority before AMD can take substantial market share

In terms of mss, even two more years of continuing superiority are not enough. It needs volume from Fab36 as well.
In terms of $-Share, it's happening already. Not really obvious, admittedly. [You ain't seen nothing yet].

p.s: I am kind of curious how long it will take until niceguy picks up this topic ;-)

RE:"Fortunately for you eternal believers, Intel is doing just that, but even then AMD is not making any substantial gains in market share and mindshare."

I dont know what planet you reside on.
Since the original Athlon was released I noticed a fair increase in customer interest, more bang for the buck!
Since the interest has steadily increased!
Of the last 50 custom machines I assembled, 46 were A64,s.
When the A64.s were released my cusomers (who are not Joe sixpack, uneducated types) have wanted the faster, 64 bit, NX enabled products.
All agree, the K8 series are the best microproc,s ever released.
