Nobody is denying the fact that higher income people pay MORE taxes in dollar figures. Nobody is arguing that higher income people pay a larger percentage of the total taxes paid. That is NOT the point. The point is everyone should pay EQUAL taxes based on a percentage of their income.
The reason our economy has tanked is because the driving force behind our economy, the middle class, has been squeezed to the breaking point. They can no longer afford to save money. Our tax system in essence taxes our savings.
It doesn't bother you that the top 1% in this Country have more wealth than the entire bottom 95%? That is not Socialism, that is Fascism.
