I would agree with you except for one thing: Discovery.
This is looming over JPM's head still. There have been no documents produced. JPM is technically in contempt of a court order on this issue. The two parties have not even given Walrath a schedule which she annoyingly demanded from them.
2004 Discovery is a Damocles sword hanging over their head. If Discovery goes forward very bad things are going to come out here, eventually that could ruin Dimon's reputation. Instead of going down in history as the greatest banker, he could end up like Madoff.
If JPM goes through with Discovery heads are going to roll, and it could lead to criminal charges. Weil et al are not stupid. If there was not a smoking gun they would not have gone forward with it. Walrath would have denied it.
Discovery is what will end this sooner than later. Maybe not this weekend. Maybe not until 2010. But not 'years'. I can wait. :)
