The ask is the supply of shares, once that diminishes the demand increases therefore making the price increase. Vise versa is the sole reason why a stock decreases during dilution.
and if you think all the support comes from Market Makers your dead wrong as well...
its a combination of both.

i know plenty...im lucky enough to have friends who work the floor on Nasdaq including setting up the computer systems they use...
