no, the mm is, because as long as the BUYER raises his asks and hits the bid and there is a steady stream/demand for shares at the ask, the mm's will support the bid. when htds and spng and asfx and owvi ran like hell recently, it was because there was a steady stream of people bidding the ASK, not the bid and the mm's all stayed ont he bid and supported it. that is what mm's do when there is a steady stream of buyers at the ask. you are wrong if you think that all the support on the bid comes from RETAIL, cause that is flat wrong. you need to learn more about how mm's and floor trading works.
