Frank,

17" iMac here. I have also made good money on AAPL in the past two years, so I feel kinda positive about the company :). If I had not married a graphic artist over 2 1/2 decades ago, I might still be running MS-DOS 3.11 :).

Ron, who still makes his living sitting in front of a Dell at an office.

Well as stated before, I would love to have Apple gear all over the place... as Kastelco mentioned - except for me the only problem is $$$. ;-) Well I am still toying with getting an iPOD though..

Anyways, the 21" Viewsonic I have is great (70lbs?) and was a short neck design (about the depth of a 17" - which added to the cost - $1200). Most cheapo 17" CRTs I have seen at Costco are deeper.

One thing that I have seen is a radical downgrade of warranties - from 3yrs to 90 days! (TVs too) But reviewing some of the LCD offerings from Viewsonic - 20" is $1300 and the 18"/19" (of which I would get - but are still a little pricy - $8-900s) are also 3years (even the one 17" I saw). I am hoping my repairs are minimal but probably would look at a Viewsonic again if they are willing to back their stuff like that. I aways pay for those with a CC so I get the extra year too - and 4 years is better than 2 if you are paying that much.

Different topic - but still on short necks - looks like Bush and Kerry are running neck and neck at around 46% each.. I am waiting to see the debates - could be a big decider this year. And although the VP's never count, I am still leaning toward hair and teeth helping the Dems.
