blauboad - Intel's dual core desktop chip could have been made in several ways:
- a MCM (2 separate dice connected via package)
- a (as I call it) pseudo dual core (wafers are diced in a way, that 2 normal cores reside on one piece of silicon - they are connected via package)
- true dual core (as we know it from Power4/5, Ultra SPARC IV, Opteron, Montecito and others)
Even the last option could be described the way as it was quoted in the Linuxworld article. ;) It just depends on how "new silicon" is defined.
