The geologist should be able to tell if the core is from a kimberlitic body or not. Some kind of testing would then be required to determine if the geochemistry is favourable for diamonds, and ultimately if any diamonds are present.

You'd really have to get lucky to actually see a diamond in the core.

The geo must be able to tell if they warrant testing at the time he inspects them?? no??

You'd think so. My understanding is that most of the cores in question are simply the "other halves" of the ones that have already been tested. So there really isn't any point in doing it.

But maybe Frizzy and Faulk think they know better than the professionals.

I have some core samples from Acadia National Park. Wanna test them?

Koch says they are chock full of lobsterium with traces of uranus.
