The "customer" has asked for what they want and it involves a MINIMUM 2,500lb payload requirement at 16.5kW? Neither HiSentinel nor the currently envisioned Sanswire products meet those requirements.

The "customer" is looking for interested parties that can meet the objective in the next 18 months. If you feel that Sanswire can meet or exceed those minimum requirements in that timeframe, by all means, you should encourage the company to actually respond to the solicitation.

"Any parties interested in participating in the LEMV acquisition are requested to submit their contact information with a white paper discussing their ability to meet the stated requirements within the 18 month schedule."

As to those, "who looks to even remotely meet the gov'ts demand for this project?" I would start my research with the list of companies who have already responded and submitted their white papers stating how they will meet the stated requirements in the given timeframe.

One blogger claims the old SkyCat company has the inside track.

"SMDC is also funding the HiSentinel solar-powered stratospheric airship demonstrator developed by Southwest Research Institute and Aerostar International, but that carries only an 80lb/500W payload. So where will the LEMV prototype come from? For a possible clue, check out Hybrid Air Vehicles Ltd. The latest incarnation of Airship Industries and Advanced Technologies Group, the UK-based company says it is flying a subscale demonstrator of a unmanned hybrid airship..."

imawswami,

Your post reminds me of the current Directv commercial where one competitors exec says that "Directv is burying us....people realize that they can get all these shows and movies in 1080P."

And another exec says "great, but they'll be just as excited to get our broadcasts in a MILLION80P"! Then someone says "We don't broadcast in a MILLION 80P....do we"?

And the other exec says "oops...looks like SOMEONE just leveled the playing field"?!

LOL.

Your post suggests that because no one (not even LOCKHEED) can do it right now...that SNSR is on a level playing field with them. IMO, nothing could be further from the truth.

Some companies (Lockheed in particular) have vast experience in bringing new and exciting technologies to the market place. Some (like SNSR) try to do it but somehow fall short each time they attempt it.
