Remember about 25% of the US speaks Spanish and all Central and South america except for Brazil (Portuguese)...
I am not so gung ho with taking French as a "class" LIkely a waste of time unless you are keen and work on your own..... even immersion needs reinforcement.... but it's not a waste like regular classes...
As to other languages... most folks can't be bothered to ask for it... too much send my kid to school and it's the system's job... There are FYI a veritable MYRIAD of languages offered by school boards as Saturday morning programs... that's where my son is going... every Saturday Morning... If a language is not offered they will start it for you if you can organise 25 participants... Like I said lots of folks just like to bellyache and wait for the magical system to do something for them.. Oh well... It may turn out to be not sufficient.. I dunno and then we may need to pay for something else... This stuff ain't easy...
Example... The municipal public swimming programs in my end of Toronto are pretty good and still good value even after cutbacks... The public skating though is not so hot after you learn to stand up... you are better off in a private CanSkate program...
Depends on the milieu you are in... Where my daughter skates there are many kids in second language programs and other activities... not all rich folk by any means... just a different mindset...
And when did Quebec sign the constitution? Yeah let's not... They were the only smart ones... now we have judges making new law and a government with no b's....
