That is why they mentioned possibly closing some of the older fabs. Now true, they could be talking about some of the really old fabs that have been ticking along, pumping out legacy products at almost no fixed costs. But they also might be talking about shifting some of the chipset and other products at 180 and 130nm to the 90nm factories.

The rush to 65nm is also easy to understand. 65nm is their next hope at putting AMD in a corner again. Until they can do that again, they are looking at pressure on their margins. There isn't a lot of that they can take.

It sounds like they (Intel) can't make faster processors at 90 nm...so shrink that baby soon or else!...;>)
