Fullmoon

Thanks for that link. I was struck even more by these paragraphs. Especially, the comment in the channel magazine about this being distributed in a new way -- not through OEMs (Dell). I hope that offers the possibility of a "time to get moving" notice to our up to now almost invisible channel partners to make some money selling the Wave package while they build and bundle.

The new drives also include the first hard-drive-based encryption feature in the channel, Worth said. Earlier releases of self-encrypting hard drives were shipped specifically to Seagate's OEM customers, she said.

That self-encryption capability allows solution providers and system builders to sell servers with the ability to prevent someone from grabbing data from a stolen server, Worth said. "If someone breaks into a company and steals a server, the loss of the data could ruin a small business," she said.

The capability also allows data to be easily erased so that a drive can be reused or sold via channels such as eBay (NSDQ:EBAY) without worrying about the data on the drives being stolen, Worth said.

IMO, in a more logical work, this announcement should move us through the 40,000 or so share block at 1.10 - 1.13 and even the block at 1.25, but I guess too many folks are still afraid of a pp in our future under a dollar.

re: Seagate drives / FIPS 140-2

I had been waiting to see additional signs of progress before posting this, but since it came up...

The Cheetah drives have been in testing for some time now, and the Momentus drives were just recently added.
