The township subpoenaed Marek to appear Wednesday because he did not show up at an initial hearing in May.
Marek has issued a string of press releases since last year touting his company and the progress they've made cleaning up the site. But township officials learned at the public hearing last month that Beacon hadn't applied for the required state and federal permits it needs before any work can be started.
After the hearing, Marek issued a news release announcing that Beacon had received a buyout offer but would not disclose the suitor's identity.
"Mlakar said the subpoena was served on motel clerk Christine Maydak of North Versailles.
The hotel is owned by the Diversified Land Management Group, 613 Cross St., North Versailles, according to state corporation records. That address is the residence of Maydak and her son, Keith."
"Mlakar received a telephone call from a man who identified himself as Marek and demanded to be paid before he would appear, the solicitor said." (innocent people don't make such demands)
