That's why (IMO) the best way to deal with this and other social problems is to put the bible aside and face reality.

Yes, that's what you guys have been saying for years. And guess what, teen pregnancy continues to go up. Single parent families continue to rise. Divorce rates have been rising. I'm referring specifically to over the last 50 years, the time period in which morality has been taught less and less in our schools.

I don't think you understand how difficult it is for a child growing up these days. Between MTV and movies and a culture that encourages kids to be themselves (which is a good thing) but to the extent of living out your whims and desires and lusts and perversions, children have no chance. And then you have these people who continue to say abstinence isn't realistic, so why even bother.

Well, the last 50 years is good enough reason to explain why you should bother. Our society is falling apart. Yet we celebrate perversion and are excited to see when our president has an affair with an intern, because it makes him more human and we can relate to him. And we discard the negative effects of his behavior on society and culture, and pretend it doesn't matter.

Anyone raising a child today in our public education system is screwed. If your kid grows up without being addicted to drugs, pregnant (or getting another person pregnant), or without an STD, consider yourself lucky. Our society reinforces this behavior, so we get what we ask for.
