thanks Sammdog, great job,
i like the following

The Samsung agreement gave clarity to rate discussions with other manufacturers. There were discussions about the matrix complexities and I sensed that $1 per device seems like an acceptable measure.

wow
outstanding report. thx samdogg.

I really like this part the most if it's true:

Questions about Nokia not having an operator network to sell their new phone yielded info that some operators tell some manufacters to liscense with IDCC before they will take their phones to sell. The operators don’t want to deal with IDCC. Merritt said technology keeps advancing and is built upon previo0us layers of tech, providing opportunity for IDCC.

It shows that the operators are highly aware of IDCC and the trial and telling NOK to go shove it if they want some US action. although ATT is not exactly cooperating b/c I see the E71 subsidized at 99 bucks, but i refuse to buy NOK.

thanks, sammdogg.

question: Is $1 per device is still just an average cost? Meaning tier one deals would be assumed to come in under $1 and bring that average down to a buck?

He also said items like that Kindle are game changers, a precursor of what’s to come. More data devices than voice.

That's real good. I guess that's why a buck a device will be very okay with an ever growing 3G LTE wifi etc. markets.

IMO, that's the biggest chuck of "news", how much longer will nokia want to go here?
