Gosh, somehow you managed to omit most of the benchmarks where the crippled A64 system beat the Dothan system. Like every game other than the one you chose:

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2129&p=10

Now how could that possibly have happened?

Accident, of course. <GGGGG>

Dothan performs right up there with Athlon 64 at half the power.

Mmmmm, No. It performs right up there with a *crippled* A64 system:

and limited ourselves to single channel DDR333 memory run at the same timings as the memory in the W360 (2.5-3-2-7).

Wbmw:

Did you even look at the test setups? They underclocked the memory for the Athlon 64 and the graphics card. This review has them use the top notebook chips for each: http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=gmso&page=1 .

Dothan does not do well here:

It loses to the Athlon 64s in:
SiSoft Sandra 2004 SP1 - CPU Arithmetic Benchmark
SiSoft Sandra 2004 SP1 - CPU Multimedia Benchmark
SiSoft Sandra 2004 SP1 - Memory Bandwidth Benchmark
Sciencemark 2.0 Beta - Memory Bandwidth Benchmark
Sciencemark 2.0 Beta - Memory Latency Benchmark
Unreal Tournament 2004 - 1024 x 768 - Convoy
Unreal Tournament 2004 - 1024 x 768 - Colossus
Halo : Combat Evolved - 1024 x 768
Adobe Photoshop CS Filter Test (wins against cheaper one)
Alias/Wavefront Maya 6.0 Zoo Render Benchmark
Windows Media Encoder 9 MPEG Encoding Test
Sciencemark 2.0 Beta - Molecular Dynamics
Sciencemark 2.0 Beta - Primordia

It wins against the Athlon 64s in:
LAME 3.96 MP3 Encoding Test

So its more like 13:1 in favor of Athlon 64s (754) even with limitations of low end graphics controllers. And even these Athlon 64s are cheaper than Dothan 755 (and more available to boot).

As the IPF fans are so fond of saying,

"Not bad against a year-old processor."

In fact, a cut-down version of a year-old processor.
