The SQ is the provincial police. If you're American, it's the equivalent of you local FBI office. If you're from Ontario, it's like your OPP without the RCMP. The SQ has been deleguated all or most of the investigatory responsibilities of the RCMP in Quebec if you're somewhere else in Canada.
