It's political. With the government involved the Dems are trying to go above and beyond the law to provide a safety net for the UAW. Those guys get election day off to vote according to their contracts.

Look like the administration is trying to make it appear that they tried their best to help save the company and the poor innocent employees represented by the UAW, yet the heartless greedy Bondholders were not willing to compromise.

If they actually expected to get any offer signed off on, would have made an offer approaching reality. These guys are not clueless, they are politicians - motivated by votes.

As before, saving the banks is business, the auto manufacturers: pure politics.

That's part of the reason I sold the debt. I am afraid this could be a long drawn out battle in BK, of bondholders vs. UAW/Govt. In the meantime, your monye is in limbo.
