Pgerassi:

A few Databases. Thats nice but thats not that impressive. Funny when you bring up the fact that Itanium runs all these and its a different story:) Itanium has nothing written for it lol.

"Intel can't even run Linux in 64 bit mode on iEMT64 with any reliability much less the 64 bit Server 2003 betas. I guess it is another of the "wait for ..." statements from Intel and its supporters that is losing credability very fast and the investors are wiseing up fast."

More wishful thinking. Do you have any proof of this other than fan site rambling? And Win 64 will run on the latest beta versions. What there is to run that is. And this matters why? Few companies will run MS BETA OS! Newsflash: THE VAST MAJORITY of AMD servers with Opteron run 32 bit applications...the vast majority of software even quite a bit of server software doesn't necessarily NEED 64 bits. And there aren't all that many 64 bit apps.

Running FINE In 64 bit mode just means its using the extended memory and a 64 bit OS. Not necessarily recompiled using AMD64 long mode. I'm talking about full blown 64 bit apps recompiled as 64 bit Apps. IBM DB2 does qualify but they did most of their work FIRST on the Itanium version:) I REALLY doubt SAS recompiled for AMD. In fact I don't know it for a fact but I suspect that Oracle didn't recompile for 64 bits and is just taking advantage fo the 64 bit extended memory.

Provide some links that show that these are recompiled and I'll believe you...

The truth is there are very few companies using Opteron with 64 bit apps. ITs all this big promise of the future...
