#2728 RE: Sexton O Blake #2727

Hi Blake. Going to be watching the markets for awhile, but I'll think about this and respond later today.

Last week when my brother turned 60, I said to him it's funny how sixty doesn't seem so old any more.

Hi Blake/Sexton. Your two issues are the heart of the matter.

#1 What is a definition of a Harami.
#2 Is Stockcharts properly showing (or not showing) those stocks that exhibit the "pattern" described.

For #1;
there may be variations on the definition. I don't know.

I keep a few T/A reference books on my desk.
Murphy's Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets
and Nison's Beyond Candlesticks
and Edwards&Magee's Technical Analysis of Stock Trends.

When I have questions, I check one of those. Candlesticks - I check Nison.

I see a reference below StockCharts scan recommending Greg Morris's Candlestick Charting Explained.

I would interpret those candlesticks that appear to be crosses or stars as having very small bodies. I don't know if that is a common or accepted interpretation. Murphy appears to show both Harami and Harami Cross patterns. I think either Murphy or Nison explain the Cross as a variation of the Harami pattern. It would take some reading to verify that.

Hard to say, isn't it?

For my purposes, the scans have located stocks that have helped me invest. I don't normally look for, or care, if the chart of a stock I am holding appears in a scan.

As a programmer, you know that parameters have to be set, and that somewhere the limit line exists. Those within are within, those without without. The difference might be .01%
